Elsa Velasquez LVN

  • Born and raised here in Lubbock TX.

  • Graduated from South Plains College Nursing Program in May of '85.

  • Working for Dr Hill has been Elsa's 1 and ONLY nursing job. 

  • Has been the nurse for Dr Damon Hill for 33 yrs.

  • Married to Vicente Velasquez.

  • Together Elsa & Vicente have a blended family with 4 kids and 13 total grandchildren.

  • Born and raised in Lubbock, Texas Damon is the oldest child of two of Lubbock's first Black educators.

  • He received his primary and secondary education in Lubbock public schools under the watchful eye of his parents.

  • Began his college education at The University of Texas in Austin.

  • He holds both Bachelor and Master of Science Degrees in Biology from Prairie A&M University. 

  • Was an educator and taught in LISD schools for five years before his medical journey.

  • In 1977 he entered medical school at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center.

  • He opened his private practice office in 1982, and continued solo for 13 years. 

  • Currently living in the same neighborhood he was born and raised, engaging often in community activities and neighborhood special events.

  • Member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, past board member of of Lubbock Boy & Girls Club, Inc and Full Armor Ministries.

  5. Lubbock Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Man of the Year

  6. 100 Black Men of Lubbock Service Honoree (of which he is a charter member)

  7. Lubbock MLK Little League Award for Service and Financial Support

  8. Lubbock Youth Football League Service Support

  9. East Lubbock Pioneers Outstanding Community Service 

  10. Boys and Girls Club of Lubbock for service to youth of Lubbock 

  11. He was even Nominated by his peers for the "Robert J Salem MD Distinguished Physician Award".
